Istanbul Kent University, which accepted its first students in the 2017 - 2018 academic year, was founded by the Unimpeded Education Foundation (ENEV). Berna Yılmaz, the Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees, is known for providing educational opportunities for disadvantaged children. Prof. Dr. M. Necmettin Atsü is the Rector of the University.
